Maths

At Stanley Green, we teach Maths to the whole class and have high expectations of all our children. We follow the White Rose scheme of learning which focuses on the mastery approach to Maths.

Children have the opportunity to learn through concrete resources, drawing pictorial representations and solving abstract problems. We aim for the children to develop fluency in Maths, so it is not just remembering facts. We want our children to be confident in their explanations and reasoning.

To engage our Year 2 children with multiplication we use Times Table Rock Stars which enables them to learn their times tables through games and challenges. Our Maths is fun and engaging for the children we encourage them to explore, talk about and engage with the learning during lessons. 

Maths Day 2022

At the end of the school year, in July, we completed a Maths problem-solving day where the children had to solve problems based upon all of their learning from the year. The children really enjoyed taking part in different activities to recall their learning from throughout the year. 

NSPCC National Number Day 2023

This year we took part in the NSPCC Number day on the 3^rd February.  We had lots of fun dressing up as numbers and completing some number based activities to support the NSPCC charity. We raised an amazing £199.83!
